Snippet is an 8-minute film made during a selected artist residency at Nastupiste 1-12 in Topoľčany, Slovakia. The film was shot and edited entirely on an old iPhone during a one-week residency developing new site-responsive work in the town.
Inspired by the cinematographic approach of Chris Marker's Le Joli Mai, the camera tracks the way we see and move through unfamiliar spaces — how the eye navigates, pauses, doubles back. In the same way memory rearranges the sequence of events, Snippet remaps and merges different places across Slovakia into a single, non-linear journey through the unfamiliar.
Exhibited in Hanover Project Video Festival in 2013.
